#BlogTour #Review Find Me by J.S. Monroe @JSThrillers @HoZ_Books

Today is my turn on the Find Me blog tour and I have to say I was soooo excited when the chance to review this book came up! I am really happy to be bringing you lovely people my review today so let’s get going!!

“An intricate puzzle of a thriller… Simultaneously romantic and horrifying”

“Intricately woven and heart-stoppingly believable, this has bestseller written all over it.”

“Cunning, captivating and creepy.”

“Gripping and deeply sinister… an intricate story that will stay with you.”

Five years ago, Rosa walked to Cromer pier in the dead of night. She looked into the dark swirling water below, and she jumped. She was a brilliant young Cambridge student who had just lost her father. Her death was tragic, but not unexpected.

Was that what really happened?

The coroner says it was. But Rosa’s boyfriend Jar can’t let go. He hallucinates, seeing Rosa everywhere – a face on the train, a distant figure on the hillside. He is obsessed with proving that she is still alive. And then he gets an email.

Find me, Jar. Find me, before they do…

My review I was invested in this story before I even opened the book. The concept behind it was a strange one and had my name written all over it. Your lover is declared dead and 5 years later you still don’t believe she is dead but no one believes you. They believe you are hallucinating but when you receive an email you realise you were right and it doesn’t matter who does or doesn’t believe you you are determined to find her. Who wouldn’t be enticed by this idea?!

I have to say that, right from the get go, I was dying to see if Jar had lost the plot or if Rosa really was alive. When reading we are seeing events unfold during the current day and also in a diary, belonging to Rosa, starting in 2012 telling us how she and Jar met and other events.

We are watching what the power of love and loss drive us to do through the whole story, the seedy depths that this man was willing to dip into to bring Rosa back to him. I won’t say there aren’t emotional triggers in this book, trust me there are and it caused me to have a nightmare, but it was worth it. There are horrific scenes in this book, second guessing your mental health, betrayal…I could go on but it might make you run away from, rather than towards, Find Me. This story has everything that a good suspense thriller should have and the writing is amazing. I have to say that at the moment this is in my Top 10 of books I have read, so far, this year!

If you don’t already know, I am a bit of an aesthete when it comes to poetry so when I opened the book to find this beautiful extract from W. B. Yeats my heart went all a flutter.

Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands

Thank you to the author and publisher for my copy for review.

  1. Ah ha, finally found the little grey plus sign, so I can leave a comment, can I say it doesn’t show up on a grey background? Or is it my computer not showing the comments box immediately?
Anyway…I like the premise of this book, but am a little concerned about the nightmare bit, in truth I mostly prefer books to leave me with a happy feely feeling, so think I must pass on this one today.

    • The nightmare was purely because when my mother died it was so sudden that I believed for the longest time that everyone was tricking me so it just stared up old memories. I think most others would have no issues with it in all honesty. I forgot to point out that I do suffer from night terrors.

    • They are lifelong, unfortunately. My grandmother, mother and daughter all suffer(ed) them. I have become quite the insomniac as a result but when I take sleeping tabs they are back… catch-22!
